In 1996 I got my PhD degree at the <A HREF="http://www.cs.uni-sb.de/">
computer science department of Saarbrücken University </A>.
My PHD thesis <A HREF="phd.html"> "Semantics-Directed Generation of Compilers and Abstract Machines" </A> is available online.
Now I am a member of the <A HREF="http://www.rw.cdl.uni-saarland.de/rwgroup.html">compiler design research group</A> at Saarbrücken University.
Together with Peter Sestoft I currently organize a <A HREF="amworkshop">workshop
on principles of abstract machines</A>.

I designed and implemented an object-oriented
extension of VRML 2.0 which is called
<A HREF="vrml++/content.html">VRML++</A>.
<A HREF="http://www.c-lab.de/vrml99/"><IMG ALIGN=right width=100 SRC="vrml99/ani
_vrml.gif"><A> I also
serve as a co-chair of the <A HREF="ooevrml/">OOE-VRML Working Group</A>
and we had a <A HREF="workshop">Workshop on OO and VRML</A> at
the VRML98 Symposium. Recently I was elected Program Chair
of the <A HREF="http://www.c-lab.de/vrml99/">4th International Conference on VRML and Web 3D Technology (VRML99)</A>.
