CHARTER for VRML Object-Oriented Extensions Working Group
The primary purpose of the OOE-WG is to
to discuss and develop object-oriented extensions for VRML.
Motivation and Goals
Building large software-systems has been facilitated by
the advent of object-oriented design methodologies
and object-oriented programming languages.
By adding object-oriented concepts to VRML we
hope to get the same benefits like, e.g.,
reusability, readability and extensibility
of specification.
Our aim is to define extensions of VRML 2.0 to better support
concepts known from object-oriented programming languages. The
work of this group should finally lead to the formulation
of a proposal.
Timeline
We plan to have a list of weaknesses of VRML 2.0 ready in June 1997,
a first proposal and implementation of OO extensions should
be available in August 1997.
Working Group Structure
We will operate primarily by e-mail.
